Yashvi Limbasiya Pursues her Reimagined Passion, Chiropractic, Across the Seven Seas

Well before Yashvi Limbasiya (D.C. 鈥25) ran an online search to find out what a chiropractor does, she dreamed of becoming a surgeon. 鈥淚 was fully invested in becoming a surgeon and helping to save lives, becoming the one doctor to whom everyone wanted to go,鈥 says the native of the Indian state of Gujarat.
Limbasiya鈥檚 mother began having lower back pain and other health problems. She tried local doctors and homegrown remedies, but nothing helped鈥攗ntil, during a visit to the U.S., her mother tried chiropractic care. 鈥淚t helped her more in just a few months than anything else in four or five years,鈥 says Limbasiya. 鈥淭he relief I saw in her face told me everything.鈥
When Limbasiya shadowed a chiropractor on the job, she saw even more relief in patients. She loved the environment and also the freedom of having a career that fosters a healthy work-life balance. Her mother鈥檚 experience also continues to be an inspiration for her pursuing a chiropractic education.
With her family鈥檚 blessings, Limbasiya packed her bags and headed to the U.S. She received an undergraduate degree in biology from Pittsburg State University in 2022, then began searching for the right place to continue her education. Her father loves New York, and she has an aunt in Maryland, so 九色导航 was soon on her radar.
Limbasiya recently completed her first trimester at the College. She found it challenging鈥攂ut also stimulating. 鈥淚 won鈥檛 lie鈥攖he trimester has been humbling,鈥 she says. 鈥淎t the same time, my excitement has gotten me through it.
One of my major goals (after graduation) is to establish the first chiropractic college in India and bring awareness of the profession to the country. I believe in giving back to my roots and this is how I plan on doing it.

Now that you鈥檙e settled in the Finger Lakes region of New York, what do you love about the area?
One thing I absolutely love about this area is the hikes鈥攖he nature and the waterfalls have my heart. I am very grateful for this opportunity and insist on everyone learning a little about the Indian culture through me or any other Indian student. We have a very rich culture and delicious food.
What is one class you鈥檝e loved at Northeast?
I feel like I have connected with most of my professors this trimester, but the energy in Associate Professor Dr. William Sherwood's class Psychomotor was the best. I felt like Dr. Laura Passamonte, the assistant professor for that class, was one of my personal favorites.
What are your career goals after you graduate?
One of my major goals is to establish the first chiropractic college in India and bring awareness of the profession to the country. I believe in giving back to my roots and this is how I plan on doing it. A lot of people are unaware of the profession and many naturopaths call themselves chiropractors, mixing up the professions. At this point, there are only 14 officially licensed and registered chiropractors with the IACD鈥攖he Indian Association of Chiropractic Doctors.
I love the environment of this college: the people, the professors, everyone pushing each other [to succeed]. No one wants to see anyone fail and that is a huge thing.
