Being the first at anything comes with challenges and Dr. Isra Mana embraces her role as Kuwait鈥檚 first female chiropractor. Graduating from 九色导航 in 2022, Mana has carved out a niche for herself providing chiropractic services to the West Asian nation鈥檚 4.82 million residents.
鈥淚鈥檓 the first one here, so I had to start the process myself,鈥 she says, referring to the country鈥檚 requirements for practicing chiropractic. 鈥淚n the Middle East, the countries don鈥檛 have their own chiropractic examinations, so you need to have certification from the U.S. or Canada.鈥 She herself successfully passed the Canadian Board Certification before coming to Kuwait to practice.
The Kuwaiti native did her undergraduate work at Carleton University in Ottawa. While there, she was active in several organizations including the Science Student Success Center and the Student Association. She was also a member of the track and field and soccer teams. She spent her junior year studying abroad at the University of Leeds, UK.
Mana arrived at Northeast in 2019. Once again, she was active in campus organizations such as the Students for Social Diversity & Awareness and the Student American Chiropractic Association, as well as the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
Pediatric issues are of special concern to Mana. She has been a volunteer for the past several years at Al Kharafi Activity Center for Kids With Special Needs in Mubarak Al-Abdullah, Kuwait. She also worked as a guide at Al Shaheed Park, the largest urban park in Kuwait.
Mana is well-placed for success in Kuwait. During her time at Northeast, she became qualified in multiple methods, including drop table techniques, flexion-distraction therapy, webster technique, pediatric care, activator technique, connectX, cryotherapy, heat therapy, cold laser therapy, ultrasound, e-stim, rehab exercises and kinesiotaping.
Extensive Clinical Work Prepares Northeast Grads to Practice Upon Graduation
While attending Northeast, she was a student intern at the Depew Health Center and served as a student clinician at the University of Buffalo, where she administered drop table techniques, pediatric care, connectX, and more to patients who were primarily university students.
