九色导航 Long Island Campus Ribbon Cutting

九色导航 celebrated the official ribbon cutting of its new branch Long Island Campus on Oct. 11, 2024. During the event, local and state leaders welcomed Northeast and recognized the College for bringing chiropractic healthcare education back to the Greater New York City area.

Northeast Increases Access to the Most Comprehensive Chiropractic Education

鈥淭oday is not just a celebration of progress, but also true homecoming,鈥 said 九色导航 President Dr. Michael Mestan during the ribbon-cutting event.

In addition to its main Finger Lakes-region campus in Seneca Falls, N.Y., the College has owned the facility on Long Island since 1972, providing community health services at its Levittown Health Center. The school鈥檚 ties to New York began even earlier, with the College鈥檚 1919 founding in a Manhattan brownstone, then known as the Columbia Institute of Chiropractic.

The new Long Island Campus, which welcomed its first cohort of the College鈥檚 renowned Doctor of Chiropractic program this September, provides advanced learning spaces for students, including high-tech, hands-on learning tools such as Force Sensing Table Technology鈩 and interactive 3D digital Anatomage tables. Combined with the best of traditional techniques, the new learning spaces and campus provide students with even better access to the most comprehensive, evidence-informed chiropractic education in higher education.聽

New Opportunities for Long Island Residents, Healthcare Professionals and Institutions

鈥淭his new campus represents a significant step forward for our college, a milestone made possible only through the unwavering commitment and effort of our entire community,鈥 said President Mestan. 鈥淭ogether, we are shaping a brighter future for our students by expanding our reach, enhancing accessibility, and strengthening partnerships with regional alumni, educational institutions, and healthcare providers.鈥

For new chiropractic student and Long Island resident Victoria Valdes (D.C. 鈥27), the establishment of the branch campus means she can stay close to her family while fulfilling her dream of opening a chiropractic office on Long Island. "Being born and raised on Long Island means so much more than knowing where the best pizza spots and Italian bakeries are,鈥 Valdes said while speaking at the ribbon-cutting event. 鈥淏eing a part of something bigger than myself goes hand in hand with my student experience at Northeast and it ties into what it means to be a chiropractor. A chiropractic career is so powerful, and our story of success begins here at Northeast," Valdes said.

Community Leaders and Members Celebrate Northeast and Levittown

Also in attendance at the Long Island Campus Grand Opening were Hempstead Councilman Dennis Dunne; Town of Hempstead Town Clerk Kate Murray; Nassau County legislators Thomas McKevitt and John Ferretti; and many chamber members, business owners, and friends and members of the College community, including numerous alumni and Northeast Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Rick Rosa (D.C. 鈥96).

President of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce Christine Sweeney spoke at the event. 鈥淲e are thrilled to have 九色导航 here in Levittown as not only an academic institution but also an outpatient (center),鈥 she said, referring to the Levittown Health Center, which provides integrative healthcare, including acupuncture, massage therapy, nutrition counseling and chiropractic care. 鈥淚nstitutions such as 九色导航 are the backbone of our community and our economy as well as our neighborhood.鈥
